At Nestling, operated by AKP Ventures Ltd (Company Number: 15968817, England and Wales), we take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our app in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

  • Baby Profile Data: Your baby's nickname and birth date (optional)
  • Sleep Tracking Data: Sleep sessions, naps, and related timestamps
  • Activity Logs: Feed times, nappy changes, and diary entries
  • Account Information: If you sign in with Apple, we receive your Apple ID authentication token

Automatically Collected Information

  • App Usage: We may collect basic analytics about app crashes and performance to improve stability
  • Device Information: Device type and iOS version for compatibility purposes

How We Use Your Information

We use your information solely to provide and improve Nestling's services:

  • Display your baby's sleep patterns and insights
  • Sync your data across your devices via our optional cloud sync (when enabled)
  • Provide personalized AI coach recommendations (Premium plan only)
  • Improve app functionality and user experience

Data Storage and Security

Cloud Sync

When you enable cloud sync, your data is stored securely in Google Firebase (hosted on Google Cloud). This means:

  • Your data is stored in a secure cloud database under your account
  • All communication with Firebase uses encrypted connections
  • You can turn sync off at any time and request deletion of your cloud data

Local Storage

All data is also stored locally on your device and is never transmitted to our servers, except:

  • When you use the AI Sleep Coach feature (Premium plan), queries and relevant sleep data are sent to our AI service provider to generate personalized advice

Authentication

If you sign in with Apple, we use Firebase Authentication to manage your session. We only receive an authentication token and do not have access to your Apple ID password or other Apple account information.

Data Sharing and Third Parties

We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties, except:

Service Providers

  • Firebase (Google): For authentication, cloud sync, and anonymous analytics
  • AI providers hosted on AWS or equivalent cloud infrastructure: For AI Sleep Coach features (Premium plan only) - sleep data and queries are sent to generate personalized advice
  • Apple: For Sign in with Apple authentication

Legal Requirements

We may disclose information if required by law, court order, or government regulation, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or the safety of our users.

Your Rights and Choices

You have full control over your data:

  • Access: View all your data within the app at any time
  • Export: Download your sleep logs as CSV from Settings
  • Delete: Remove individual entries or clear all data from Settings
  • Account Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data via Settings
  • Opt-out of Analytics: Disable analytics in device settings

Children's Privacy

Nestling is designed for parents and caregivers (aged 13 and over) to track information about their babies and children. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.

The app allows you to enter information about your baby or child (such as nickname and birth date). By entering this information, you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian with authority to provide this information.

We process children's data only as directed by you as the parent or guardian, in accordance with UK GDPR requirements for processing children's personal data.

International Users

Nestling is available worldwide. If you use Nestling outside your country of residence, your data may be transferred to and processed in countries where our service providers operate. By using Nestling, you consent to such transfers.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by posting the new policy in the app and updating the "Last Updated" date. Your continued use of Nestling after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.

Your Data Protection Rights

Under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, you have the following rights:

  • Right to Access: You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Right to Rectification: You can request that we correct inaccurate personal data
  • Right to Erasure: You can request deletion of your personal data (available in app settings)
  • Right to Restrict Processing: You can request that we limit how we use your data
  • Right to Data Portability: You can request your data in a portable format (CSV export available in app)
  • Right to Object: You can object to certain types of processing
  • Right to Withdraw Consent: Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time

Data Retention

We retain your data as follows:

  • Account and sleep tracking data: Retained while you actively use the app, and for up to 90 days after account deletion (to allow for recovery)
  • Authentication data: Retained while your account is active
  • AI coach chat history: Retained for up to 12 months to improve service quality (Premium plan users)
  • Analytics data: Anonymized and retained for up to 24 months

You can request immediate deletion of your data by contacting us at support@nestling-app.com.

Legal Basis for Processing

We process your personal data under the following legal bases:

  • Contract Performance: To provide the app services you've signed up for
  • Consent: For optional features like cloud sync and AI Sleep Coach
  • Legitimate Interests: To improve our app, prevent fraud, and ensure security
  • Legal Obligation: To comply with applicable laws and regulations
